Exploring Northern Galicia

The next day we decided to head up the coast.  Our first stop was San Andres de Teixido, a small village on the cliff top overlooking the coast with a quaint church that still holds services.  This is where the Bay of Biscay meets the Atlantic ocean.  The ocean has a very wild feel.   When you enter the village the locals are there to sell you pan dulce and trinkets.

After exploring around San Andres, we kept heading north and found Praia de Picon.  This was an untouched beach in a local village.  Absolutely stunning!
From there we kept heading north and came across an old fishing port called O' Barqueiro.  We found a charming little fishing town with a few restaurants strung along the harbor.
We ate lunch at a small seafood restaurant.  Riley had langostinos which were giant prawns that I had a fun and messy time cracking for her.  Cole ate steak w/ fries, I ordered gamba which ended up being "garlic shrimp"  and Alex ordered the local fish called "hake".  Over all a delicious seafood meal we had been craving.
After this the kids were exhausted from the afternoon of driving so we took the main highway back to the house.

The next morning Alex headed down to Praia Pantin to surf while the kids and I hung at the house and relaxed.

That afternoon we checked out another local beach called Praia de Baleo.  We found a cute little park on the beach with a wood teeter-totter and some rusty swings that the kids played on.  We then went down to the beach where the kids made forts on the beach and we tried to find a protected cove from the wind.
