Well our time came to an end in Northern Galicia. We enjoyed our time getting to know the locals in Golmar. They were all very welcoming. On Tuesday we headed west towards Muxia, the closest town to Viseo where we were staying next. We stopped in Betanzos for lunch. We found a small alleyway that housed plenty of tapas bars and crowds. We ended up at a tapas bar with standing room only where we ate calamari, potatoes with "jamon" and a tortilla (which in this area of Spain is basically eggs & potatoes).
After lunch we continued on, with just a few minor stops including the pharmacy and grocery store. We turned on to the road to head to Viseo and instantly had smiles on our faces! We were about as remote and rural as it gets. Grass fields with sheep and cattle surrounded by forest with small houses sprinkled on an occasional hillside. We were in the heart of rural Galicia, an area that hasn't changed much in hundreds or years. The house we rented was in a farming village of about 20 homes. Chickens, cows, sheep and dogs owned the streets as we approached our house. At the end of a small paved road was our house, built originally as a farmhouse in the late 1800's and recently restored into a home by a surfer from England.

At a nice beach with fun surf at Playa Nemina, although the water was cold with offshore winds!
